Description

Are you looking for a career in health work or social care? This course has been designed to give you a broad understanding of health, social care and early years working environments. You will develop realistic knowledge, understanding of a very diverse sector and learn the practical skills to help you succeed. The course is worth two A-Levels.
Topics will include:
Understanding human behaviour
Working in health and social care
Effective communication
Psychological perspectives
Health, illness and disease
The role of exercise in maintaining health and well-being
Complementary therapies
Health illness and disease
There are also several work placements throughout the course so you won’t miss out on valuable work experience.
You will have lots of opportunities to take part in enrichment activities such as sign language, complementary therapies and first aid, which will also give you extra qualifications. In addition, you will also undertake work experience in a health or social care setting.

Career

Students can progress to careers in the health service and social sectors. You could also continue to Higher Education to further your studies and gain employment in areas such as occupational therapy, speech pathology, youth work, podiatry and much more.

You will need to meet the normal college entry criteria for AS/A2 courses.
